Food for Resilient Anti-Readers!
This book was recommended to me by a teacher at my son's school. He is an extremely reluctant reader and I don't think he's finished a book since the Biff & Chip books he was forced to read with me & his Father in the infants! I was advised to get a short book that can grip his attention and that he has a hope of finishing. It came today (have already posted positive seller feedback) and I have read it myself already. Literally didn't put it down for a few hours. Now everyone is waiting for their dinner but I had to post this review first. Great book. I can see it grabbing the attention of both boys and girls. My son is going into secondary school shortly and needs to read over the summer. I have just handed this to him and I will provide and update as to whether or not it's managed to capture his imagination. This is my last resort. Nothing else has worked! There has been so many positive comments from the teachers at school about this book that I think only the most resilient of anti-readers will resist it.

Great story but at times frustrating writing.
Ill start by saying I am 32 so perhaps nmot the best age range for this book, I would say 9 and onwards, but my son will read it next. The story is great and actually has a really good underlying message of how you can overcome things, you have the strength to do it!My gripe is sometimes the writer has tried to hard, by this I mean there is particularly at the beginning of the book very repetitive writing style where the same is reiterated in the same sentence, possibly for impact but it bugs me. Once I got over this I actually enjoyed the book and would read it again in the future. I think my 9 year old would love it as its based around a boy. All in all a great book, just perhaps not the best match of writing style for me personally.

Excellent adventure and good lessons
I bought this after it was recommended on a YouTube channel I watch. It is a quick read, as in a few hours max at only 160 pages. But it packs a lot in. My mother and son both read it before I did and we all agreed it was a really good book. Excellent lessons for youngsters about not giving up and the strength or a positive attitude. I will leave it there for you to enjoy the journey yourself. Buy it and enjoy it.

Utterly rivetting, Unputdownable Brilliance
I ripped through this in a day then handed it to my 10yo daughter who inhaled the thing in one sitting! Utterly brilliant adventure about a child left to his own devices in the wilds of Canada... how he survives with nothing but his mind, his will to carry on and a resolute never-give-up attitude. Superb.

A lesson in survival
A well paced, attention gripping tale told with the minimum of dialogue. I found it as a recomendation at the end of another survival story and it was well worth reading. Pity there isn't an e-book version, especially as the thirtieth anniversary edition was released in 2017.

The Journey that you go through in this book is very satisfying and the story telling is amazing. You find yourself imagining what you would do in the situations to this young boy in the wild. I give a 4 not 5 because i felt that there could have been another element to the story that would have made it more intriguing.

Memories
Loved this book growing up. The writing is simple, the book is short, but it is a good tale of a boy learning to be self sufficient in the wild.

Been looking for this book for ages (forgot the title), read it when a young teenager, loved it then ... still do.
