A lovely game which, as it says, helps develop dexterity
This was a huge success with my granddaughter who took to it immediately. The quality is great, and the box is very attractive and easily stored to contain the pieces of the game.

Toddler is obsessed!
We got this for my toddlers 3rd birthday and it’s been an absolute hit, they still play with it almost daily 3 months later! They even play the game alone sometimes. Great for helping gross motor skills and very good quality components for the price. They picked up the rules straight away so very easy to play and the box is a good size for all the parts to fit in comfortably. Highly recommend this game to any toddler parent

Great for learning scissors skills
The media could not be loaded. This Learning Resources Ruby’s Gem Quest Skills Game is a great game to help children learn scissors skills in a fun way.The game is very simple but sometimes those are the best games. To play you spin the wheel and then pick up a gem that matches the colour with the dragon themed scissors and place it in your treasure chest. The first one to fill it up wins. This is a brilliant game for young children, around two to four years old, as it allows them to practice colour matching, scissors skills and turn taking. How to hold scissors can be tricky for young children and they often try to hold them in an inefficient way as it's the only way they can get the paper cut so having a game like this to play before they start cutting paper is perfect as the holding of scissors can be correctly implemented first.Whilst the game is simple it would need to be supervised as otherwise children may avoid (or not know how to) holding the scissors correctly and the gems are also small enough to be a choking hazard. We really like this game and it's going to be very useful both now and in the future for practicing holding scissors.

A Perfect Blend of Fun and Learning for Little Ones!
Ruby's Gem Quest is a delightful educational board game that has quickly become a favorite in our household. If you're looking for a fun way to introduce your young ones to board games while also sneaking in some important skills, this game is an excellent choice.Pros:Educational and Engaging: The game is designed to teach color recognition and fine motor skills, particularly through the use of the dragon-shaped scissors. My little one has started to grasp the basics of using scissors, all while enjoying the process of collecting colorful gems. It’s a great way to practice hand-eye coordination without them even realizing they’re learning!Simple Yet Fun Gameplay: The rules are straightforward—spin the wheel, collect the corresponding gem, and be the first to fill your treasure chest. It’s easy enough for young children to understand and keeps them engaged without being overwhelming.Beautiful Design: The game board is vibrant and appealing, with a fantasy theme that captures the imagination. The dragon scissor scooper is a fun and clever design that adds an extra layer of excitement for the kids.Durable and Compact: The game is well-made, with sturdy components that can withstand the enthusiastic play of younger children. Plus, everything packs away neatly in the box, making it easy to store and transport.Cons:Limited Longevity for Older Kids: While it’s perfect for younger children, the game might become too simple as they get older. It’s best suited for preschoolers and early learners who are still developing their motor skills.Scissors Could Be Improved: The dragon scissors are fun but can be a bit tricky for very young children to use at first. A slightly wider opening would make it easier for them to grab the gems without frustration.Overall, Ruby's Gem Quest is a wonderful game that combines fun and education in a way that keeps little ones entertained. It's a fantastic tool for introducing board games and developing essential skills. Highly recommended for families with preschoolers!

Appealing, yet simple educational game
This game has simple principles, and is designed to help with colour recognition, counting, and dexterity as well as the social interaction aspects of game play, including the existence of frustrations and setbacks to achieving a goal. The game comes in a beautifully presented box. The box is quite a bit larger than the contents, as this is a game without a board. Instead, players collect coloured gems into little plastic coffers (‘treasure chests’). The aim of the game is to be the first player to collect a complete set of 5 different coloured gems in your chest.Gameplay is organised in age order and, starting from the youngest, players take it in turns to spin a spinner to see whether they can pick a gem, have already got that colour and so do nothing, or will receive a penalty (missing a turn or being required to return one collected gem). The gems are collected using a special dragon-shaped tool. This has an opening and closing mechanism that works along the same principles as scissors, but is used to grab and release the gems. The tool is great for practicing the opening and closing motion needed when using scissors, as well as broadening the scope of using tools for a purpose. The gems are cute - chunky little faceted clear plastic pieces with glitter through them - and the game design fits in with traditional tales of dragons hoarding precious items.Everything except the base for the spinner board and the box is made from plastic. It's good quality, but seems a shame to use such an unenvironmentally-friendly material when e.g. the little boxes and spinner arrow could easily have been made from a sustainable, biodegradable material such as bamboo, and the gems perhaps even have been real pieces of polished stone such as rose quartz and amethyst.
