TekMat Ultra Cutaway Gun Mat for use with AR-15, Black, 15" x 44" (TEK-44-AR15-CA)

I literally just got this mat less than 5 minutes ago upon on boxing it I realized the edging done on a serger machine was done incorrectly and frayed so I got a defective mat. I will update this review accordingly if the company decides to reach out and replaced this mat.***6th month Update***I reached out to the company. They had/have no intentions of ever making this issue right. I thought the rubber would prevent the thread from unravaling I was wrong. I cannot honestly recommend this product.

Yes, Tekmat let me down. February order for a visiting friend's birthday, 4 separate items that should have taken a few daysbut took 60 plus days. 9 or more emails from them about changing delivery time from late February or early March til May! (emails do give option to cancel). First day I had to void the order and split it up because they were going to send it all in parcel one month later. So 1 item came fast because of me. The rest took from mid February til mid April (though they stated May in the emails). I had emailed the company saying that I would be moving homes by April and could they please send it to my listed billing address, but I got no response (other than a generic auto-bot response). Later, I got no email when they actually arrived on 2 different days.And now I have to pay to have a neighbor ship them all to me.I understand if one item sells out, it happens in the business world. But if you don't have 3 of 4 separate items that you are posting as available by a certain date then you are really pushing it Tekmat. 3 of 4 mats missed the birthday dude. And me!The mats themselves are as ordered. They are slightly heavier and bigger than expected but well protected in their shipping boxes. They are in good new condition. Price was a little high for cloth/rubber. I can't fully tell you how they are since I am gifting them to a gun buddy and not unwrapping them. But they are about 1/5th of an inch or less thick (a little thicker than my mouse pad), with the expected markings and seem to be a good product. Font is quite legible. Good for cleaning and maintenance of weapons, though some could use it as decoration in a gun room or office, or at an outdoor gun ranges to cover the table wood (though a hot chamber or barrel would probably damage/discolor it). The mats themselves are 4 to 5 stars, since maybe they could be a little thicker.But I have to give Tekmat 2 stars for this entire shipping fiasco.

There are very few rifle cleaning mats available in anything other than 12x36 size, which is way too small. Very strange. Of the large size mats, this Tekmat is king. Not only is it a great size at 15x44, it is thick with sewn edges, and the graphics are clear and bright. The surface is oil and water resistant too. The $12.49 price on the cutaway version is a steal and can't be beat. Some reviews mention the misspelling of a few words, but that has been corrected - my mat has all the words spelled correctly. One slight con is that it doesn't come with a sleeve to keep it in, so I roll it up and wrap two buckled velcro straps around it to keep it nice and neat when not in use.

For years and years I used an old towel–and to tell you the truth, I still do for the most part. Only because these are so nice I don't want to stain / grease them up with oils and cleaners.I have a few TekMats in various sizes and with different images. The "Ultra" series are the best and only version I'd recommend–they're the most thick and stay in place when you're using them. The thinners ones tend to bunch and ball up when you put things on top of them. The sewn edges are nice too. Think of this thing as a very large, high quality mouse pad–or neoprene a wetsuit. It's soft and adds a nice little rubbery cushion for when working on your babies. Perfect in the garage, man cave, or gamer desk. The images on the pads are usually pretty helpful too–quick reference when you're working on something.

This mat is well constructed and I love the way it is stitched around the edges. Great cleaning mat. Two issues. First, it is not wide enough to clean a rifle as it should be. Would recommend adding at least two inches to the width. Second, it has no case in which to store it. You will need to get hold of a few extra thick rubber bands, or use zip ties, something like that to wrap around it for storage.

Plenty big for all my rifles. Soft enough to prevent scratches. It seems to be oil resistant. No obnoxious odor. Rolled out flat. Good thickness. Sharp looking. The first one I ordered, I was sent the wrong size. Received the 33" x 12" x 1/8" mat. Heh, I like it so much I kept it and ordered another. Second time, they got the size right.

I always just laid out a towel to clean my AR, but no more! This mat is pretty awesome. It's the perfect size, got the sweet diagram of parts for education or looks. It rolls up fairly compact for easy storage and has a nice feel to it. I definitely feel much better using this than an old towel. And black is perfect to conceal gun powder or whatever gets on it. Very nice!

Excellent construction - it's a good mat. A few errors on the print, like "Chargin Handle", "Receive End Plate", and saying the AR-15 is the original name of the M15 (which was a M14 set up to replace the BAR - very different in design / function). There are some other grammar and spelling errors ("mlitarily" anyone? ).So, the construction is excellent and will serve me well for years. Tekmat needs to get proof readers to review before going to production- I'm surprised these were approved for release.
