I bought this after having been using a simple mason jar for my sourdough starter, and let me say that this is soooo much better for my starter! It’s wide mouth design is perfect for stirring and measuring starter. Easy to clean and pour from. It’s big enough for my starter to expand after feeding and it has never overflowed. I just set the glass lid right on top and nothing has been able to get inside either. Perfect for fridge storage too with the clasps to keep it airtight.

Love the jars (ordered two). Using mine for sour dough. Comes with seal, 2 clams, lid and jar. Jars and lid are heavy duty. The only issue I had was the way they were shipped. I had ordered 2 and one was in a bubble wrapped bag, the other in the same bag with the bubble wrapped one just loose and banding around (Fault of the shipper) I totally expected to have to return crushed glass. Upon opening, it was fine which showed me how tough the jars are. Prices are high but jars are great quality.

I got this jar specifically for my sourdough starter, and it’s honestly perfect. Instead of leaving the rubber seal around the lid, I use it to mark the rise of my starter, which helps me see how much it’s grown. The shape is awesome—it’s easy to mix in, scrape the sides, and it’s wide enough to pour in flour and water without making a mess. The only thing I wish I had done was get a bigger size, especially if you make a lot of starter, but if you’re just starting out or going the no-discard route, this size is perfect! Totally understand the hype around the Weck jars now. I’m obsessed!

Weck jars are top of the line, rightfully so. The liter tulip jar was purchased for my sourdough starter. It was highly recommended and now I understand why. Not only is this tulip jar the perfect size but it makes mixing and clean up so much easier, with no extra hassles! It is heavy duty and worth every cent. I highly recommend.

Bought this to start making a sourdough starter and it works great. I was using the glass lid for a while but switched to the white lid and they both work well for my starter. My jar came chipped on the lid and a slight chip at the base, but it hasn't affected my use of the jar ( i just have to make sure not to slide/cut my finger along the glass lid's edge). I haven't used the metal clips yet but everything else works as expected.
