I bought this camera to improve visibility when backing up and it has been an excellent decision, the image is clear, even at night, and the viewing angle is wide, which gives me much more safety when parking, the installation was easier than I expected

I admit, I was skeptical, and I was pretty happy overall with the camera bundled with my G840S. I wasn't sure what, exactly, I'd be getting for the forty bucks.I'm so glad I spent them. Seriously.First, this camera has dramatically improved glare reduction over the stock camera. At night, headlights resolve more neatly, instead of becoming pools of smeary, indistinct white light. I had no problem knowing there was a car behind me with the stock camera, but the combination of better glare mitigation and much faster white balance correction as lighting changes meant that the video capture produced useful images with less of a recalibration delay, at night. If I ever need a clear image from a half-second flyby behind me on the recorder log, this camera is much more likely to deliver it than the stock one, for that reason alone. Again, the stock camera wasn't "bad," really -- just average. This one's much, much nicer.It offers a wider field of vision, too -- and yes, that means a little fisheye effect at the extreme edges. That would be annoying, if not that this is a backup camera, and that translates to even better peripheral vision coverage. I've caught people in the parking lot waiting behind and to the side of my car that I couldn't see with the stock camera -- well out of my way, yes, so they weren't safety hazards, but being able to see them at all is a testament to the improved field of vision the upgraded camera offers.White balance and dynamic range are nicer, too, but I really only notice the difference at night. The stock camera was more than adequate during the day, and while this one's a step up, you really feel the difference more at night than in the day.Installation was a snap, as it uses the same connector as the stock camera. Unplug old, plug in new -- I believe it even mounted to the original mounting bracket, identically.If you're basically content but not thoroughly delighted with the stock G840S camera's quality, yes, definitely, buy this one. You'll be glad you did, and I'm pretty confident you'll find it a significant step up from the stock camera. It elevated the quality of my G840S to the next level, and I'm very, very happy with it.

I purchased this to pair with another brand dash cam. The rear camera that came with my dash cam had poor low light performance and bloomed out when headlights hit the camera. This camera lives up to its claim that it can clearly read a license plate number at night even with headlights shining. It was worth the few dollars more in performance.

Very much worth the money. Night and day difference (no pun intended). Seriously though, old camera would wash out at night with any bright headlights behind you. Even if the car/truck was a 1/2 mile behind you it would light up the Wolfbox rear view mirror ridiculously. That is now gone. Good job on the upgrade! I will mention one oversight on their part. The new mounting plate holes do not line up with the old version so expect to have to make at least one new hole to get this one swapped in if you are not just using the 3m tape. Not a big deal but would have made the installation much smoother had a little more design attention been applied since it is made by the same company.

not working for g900 pro even tho it said thats its compatible for g900 pro, for some reason device is not detecting the rear camera.

Direct replacement for the G840S. Picture does appear to be sharper. Lets hope the durability was upgraded too. Wolfbox already bought me two of the originals under warranty. This is on a RV that only sees monthly use. Maybe I should keep a spare one for next time.

The media could not be loaded. I have used the standard camera for several years. Daytime quality is great with the standard camera. Nighttime for rear view mirror use is mostly useless unless you are alone on the road. Headlights on the freeway are unbearable. I shut off the display for nighttime use using my side mirrors instead.This upgrade looks better in a single detail at night. Color. The standard camera reverts to gray scale video in low light.This upgrade is far from good for nighttime use. Bummer.
