This lamp is A LOT larger than I expected. Thankfully, it still fits on top of my desk. It's also very heavy, so make sure your desk can handle it. It's SUPER bright. There are controls on the lamp that allow you to change its brightness and I usually use it at the lowest setting. The magnification is awesome. The lamp itself is very flexible and allows you to really position it to work for whatever you're doing. This was well worth the price. Great product. Everything is made of metal and high grade plastics. It's a really good mag lamp.

This is a great product. I do a lot of close needlework (embroidery and cross-stitch) and need the extra magnification. the built-in lights are a plus, and I especially like the fact that you can dim or brighten the lights easily. I use it as a floor stand, but it can also convert into a desktop lamp. The base is very heavy so, the floor lamp does not tip over at all. It has a built-in cover for the magnifier which is a nice feature. Even though I don't have my magnifier near a window, it keeps the dust off and is an extra safety precaution in case I ever move it near direct sunlight.

Pros - Brightness is adjustable. Has a cover over the magnifier so can use as a light if you don't need magnification. Very heavy base. Good magnification.Cons - The pole that fits into the desktop base had a hole in it that the screw goes through for security, but the pole that fits into the floor base does not. Although it seems stable, I feel it would be more stable if there was a hole for the screw would go through. Although the base is very heavy, if you extend the arms out too far away from the center, the lamp tips over.This lamp should work well under most situations, I wanted to use it in a way that it evidently wasn't designed to do.

It's heavy! But that's so it won't tip over when you extend the arm. I find the floor-mount extension arm to be a tad too short, but I use mine on the desktop in any event, and rarely have cause to move it from its designated spot. One very important detail that doesn't seem to appear in any of the product photos or descriptions: in the bottom of the base is a flip-out metal support bracket, that effectively doubles the size of the base, and makes it super stable when you extend the arm of the light. Why they omitted this from the photos is beyond me. If you don't extend that bracket, they the thing will tip over when you extend out the arm. I attached a photo. Ignore all the board game components, I'm in the middle of a game! The magnification area is good sized since the glass is oval shaped. The LEDs are bright, and although the brightness is adjustable, the color is not.

This is a much stronger magnification than I'm used to and it's absolutely wonderful for my jewelry-making. I feel like a light has been switched on that has been off for years! My eyes feel 20 years younger.The light is bright and white and the lens is crystal clear. The model I purchased can be brightened and dimmed easily and quickly. I was very happy to discover that the base is very heavy so I don't worry about the lamp tipping over. I was offered an additional 2 years on the warranty if I registered my product so the lamp now has a 5-year warranty at no extra cost. I don't think you could ask for a better deal! I love this lamp!

This light is bright and move easily into position. The base is heavy so it will not fall over when repositioning or if you bump into it. I use this to do puzzles, and it is perfect!

I am a happy owner of two other Brightech magnifying lamps, so I was disappointed with this item. I wanted to use it on a tabletop, not floor-standing, and I found the weighted base is not heavy enough to be stable. You can barely extend the lamp before it becomes quite tippy, and you cannot extend it fully or it will fall over. So in practice you can't position the base far away from the work space. Additionally, the magnification is too high, and as a result you have to have your work pieces very close to the glass or you can't see them—but this does not leave enough room for tools, even small screwdrivers. Finally, the glass is very different from my other Brightech magnifying lamps, which have crystal-clear glass. This one has noticeably green glass that adds a color cast to everything I view through it. I'm returning this and I will buy another of a different model they sell, available at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UW2H1Z8 which has a large, crystal-clear, not-too-high magnification glass and a more stable base and less bulky head (the lighter head is presumably why that one is not tippy).
