It seems hard to fine small quantities of calcium carbide that works well in old miners lamps. This product works very well and seems just as good of quality as the fuel my grandfather used to have. The can arrives well packaged and sealed from the environment.I filled my lamp about 2/3 full of carbide and water and instantly stuck a bright flame that lasted for nearly 4 hours. The residue left behind is quickly cleaned up with water and a little elbow grease. I would highly recommend keeping some on hand for hurricanes or other natural disasters.

If you use plenty of water this product works very well at ending mole runs in your yard. I recommend this to anyone with a mole problem
